NO Remote actions SET controls work OK

Look on the front edge of the PCB for the remote receiver
It usually has 3 legs, +5v, earth, and data signal out
if its one of those all black plastic ones, they go faulty a lot.
Testing receiver
if you have a scope then look for pulses coming from the data pin, when you fire the remote at it.
The data line is also at +5v and it's pulled down by data pulses
if you don't have a scope try :-
Put a crystal (very high impedance) earphone from the data line to earth
(your fingers can complete the earth from the jack plug outer to chassis)
with the tip of the jack plug to the data pin.
Now listen whilst pressing remote buttons, You should here the train of pulses.
I've never tried it , but I suppose a 0.1uf capacitor connected between the data-out line and the audio chip input pin would work,
or what about connection a 1uf cap in series with one prod of a multimeter (AC range) on a low range to look for output.
if a reading shows only when you press the remote, it must be working
