Intermittant Faults
99% of all intermittant faults are caused by bad solder joints
some are plain to see, but some look perfect
take some time and resolder all the joints in an area YOU think most likely.
things like Transformers , have an effect called MagnetoStriction,
which is where the metalic body expands and contracts each time it is magnetized.
with things like a TV transformer they are magnetized at least 15k times a second
So resolder around these areas first
and also any areas that look as though they have been getting hot ( Brown/dark pcb areas)
All joints should look shiny and smooth
These type of faults can be very very difficult to solve
if the fault is TIME related ( ie it does it after ˝Hr or so) then its usually heat
so buy a can for electrical freezer spray and a hair dryer
Also look in the file for that MAKE and see what usually goes wrong with that make
they often get the same faults
GOOD LUCK
